Cosmetic Dentistry Weatherford, TX

Almost everyone experiences a stained tooth throughout their lives, which is where cosmetic dentistry can be helpful. There are many different treatment options that fall under the cosmetic dentistry category, all of which can be used to transform, restore or renew teeth that are not in optimal condition. Stains often result in embarrassment or shame; however, through cosmetic dentistry, there is hope!

Cosmetic dentistry options for stained teeth

Outlined below are a few cosmetic dentistry options that general dentists recommend for patients who have stained teeth.

In-office teeth whitening

One of the most popular ways to treat stained teeth through cosmetic dentistry is with an in-office whitening session. General and cosmetic dentists offer teeth whitening services that can whiten the teeth up to ten shades. In-office teeth whitening usually does not take more than an hour and a half. If patients require multiple rounds of teeth whitening, they will be done over the span of a few months.

Cosmetic dentistry teeth whitening is known to produce better results than that of store-bought products. Dentists have access to stronger and more efficient products, which can better remove stains from the teeth.

Take-home teeth whitening

Another cosmetic dentistry option for stain removal is take-home teeth whitening kits. These kits vary per practice, but for the most part, they consist of custom-made trays that perfectly fit the patient's upper and lower arch. A whitening solution is also provided as part of the kit, which goes directly into the tray so that the teeth are able to soak. Take-home kits typically contain similar products to the ones used in-office; however, sometimes, the solution may be less powerful.

Dental veneers

An additional cosmetic dentistry option that is recommended for stained teeth is dental veneers. When the teeth are severely stained, they may not respond to whitening agents, which results in the need for another solution. Dental veneers are often used for restorative purposes; however, many general dentists also recommend them for cosmetic reasons. They are thin plastic coverings that go directly over the natural tooth and can be color-matched with the other teeth so that the restoration is not noticeable.

Dental veneers are a more expensive cosmetic dentistry option; however, they are a permanent one. The process typically takes two to three appointments because the veneer has to be custom-made in a dental lab.

Composite bonding

Composite bonding is another cosmetic dentistry option used for stained teeth; however, it is less common. Bonding is typically used for teeth that are minorly chipped or cracked, but it can be used to cover tough stains too. The procedure of dental bonding is relatively quick and does not require anything to be custom-made.
